Who Sungrow are
Sungrow was founded in 1997 in Hefei, China, by Professor Cao Renxian, who left his position at Hefei University of Technology to address unreliable power supply in rural and industrial areas of China. The company's early work was focused on power electronics research rather than a commercial product line, with the first solar inverter following a few years later.
Sungrow entered the Australian market in 2012, and the company has been listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since November 2011.
A research background that never really stopped
Sungrow holds more than 3,500 patents, with over 9,400 patent applications filed as of 2024. That volume of filed research reflects the company's roots as an R&D driven organisation rather than one built primarily around sales and distribution.

Sungrow opened its largest overseas solar inverter manufacturing base in Bangalore, India, in 2018, extending its own manufacturing rather than relying solely on facilities in China.

Sungrow operates regional headquarters and a service network across more than 40 countries, giving the battery range backing beyond a single domestic market.
Battery storage built on the same engineering teams as its inverters
Sungrow's battery and hybrid inverter systems are developed by the same power electronics engineering teams, rather than a storage division bought in or bolted on separately.
