Who Rinnai are
Rinnai was founded in Nagoya, Japan, in 1920 by Hidejiro Naito and Kanekichi Hayashi. The company's first product was a pressurised oil stove, and it moved into gas appliances a few years later as gas infrastructure expanded across Japanese cities.
That grounding in gas and heat technology carried the company into new categories over time, including kitchen appliances, hot water systems, and eventually air conditioning and heating, as the underlying engineering matured across each product line.
Continuity through disruption and growth
Rinnai has operated continuously since 1920, aside from a wartime period when its factory was requisitioned for aircraft parts manufacturing before resuming appliance production after the war. The company has been publicly listed since 1971, and now operates through group companies spanning Japan, the United States, Australia, China, South Korea and Indonesia.

Rinnai has manufactured air conditioning locally in Victoria and South Australia for part of its more than fifty years operating in this country. The ducted range is built for whole-home zoned control from a single outdoor unit, suiting homes where most rooms need climate control and there is ceiling space for the ductwork.
Split systems
Backed by more than fifty years of Rinnai's local presence in Australia, the split system range pairs a wall mounted indoor unit with an outdoor compressor, built and tested for local conditions. They suit single rooms, additions, or homes where ducting is not practical.
